Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT)
Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) is a synthetic antioxidant used to prevent oxidative rancidity in fats, oils, and rendered products. It extends the shelf life of products containing animal fats by inhibiting the chain reaction of lipid oxidation. Commonly used in lard, tallow, and rendered cooking fats, as well as in the fat component of processed meat products. Supplied in a sealed 20 kg food-grade pail.
